As a little girl, I grew up in my grandmother Zettie’s house with my mom and little brother.  It was Zettie who introduced me to the world of baking and creating delicious, tasty goodies in the kitchen.  I have many wonderful memories of her cooking in the kitchen.  One that especially stands out for me - I remember standing on a chair, so that I could reach the counter, next to her in the kitchen, with my own little apron on, watching her ever so intently mix a batter.  After she finished using a hand mixer to blend the batter, she handed me one of the mixer beaters, and she took the other one and we both tasted whatever sweet treat it was that she had made.  Looking back in time, I guess you could say that I was her sous chef, getting her items out of the refrigerator for her, or handing her measuring spoons, or cups, and sometimes even stirring the batter.  So much fun!
 
Today, my passion for doing baking and pastries has brought me to this new endeavor I have named - Zettie’s Confections.  If Zettie were still with us today, I think she would be very proud of how her mentorship to me, brought me to where I am today.
